We Are Rewriting Possible

Together, we’re rewriting what’s possible in South Sudan. With your generous help, we can expand this work, continue to rewrite the water crisis story, and dramatically reduce our costs, all in one year!

When I first set foot in South Sudan, I met mothers who offered their bodies to feed their children and then later asked if I would take their infants back home with me. All they wanted was for their children to live with hope and possibility.

Mothers are ferocious warriors for their families. Today, those same mothers run businesses repairing boreholes, earning enough to feed their families, pay school fees, and even lend a hand to others. These women are changing their world and our understanding of what our privilege can do to help others thrive.

This year alone, they “turned the water back on” for 65,000 homes!

That’s 65,000 homes where mothers know their children will drink clean water daily.

Women are doing what was once considered impossible. With your faithful support, they are rewriting the water crisis story.

These women are also redefining the economics of well repair. With your help, we’ve seen the cost of a well repair drop from $2,125 in 2020 to $805 this year. In 2025, our per-well repair will have dropped by 75%but only with your support can we expand our reach and achieve those economies of scale.

I am not a hydrologist, and I assume you aren't either. My degree is in economics, and my training tells me that when you can expand your reach and lower costs by 75%, good things will happen.

Impossible gets rewritten to possible.

In 2006, local leaders told me that “nothing else in our broken country can improve without clean water.” At that time, in a country with barely passable roads, only two doctors for 13 million people, and rampant hunger, they said water had to come first.

For over fourteen years, we’ve stood with those leaders to pursue one goal: clean water for all. Our mission hasn’t changed, but our methods have. Since 2021, the focus has been on one simple truth: women are the best solution.

It wasn’t easy. Many said it couldn’t be done—women couldn’t learn to repair wells. But they have. And now, they’re rewriting what’s possible.

They’ve proven that women can lead, solve complex problems, beat inflation, dramatically reduce costs, and transform their communities—and they’re just getting started.

Will you help us continue rewriting what’s possible for women like Maria?

When you invest in a woman pump mechanic, you invest in a change maker like Maria Amul. Maria’s journey has blossomed into a true story of resilience and empowerment. At 26, she’s now a proud secondary school graduate, a skilled well mechanic, and a mother of three dedicated to uplifting her community. With every well she restores, Maria is building a brighter, more independent life for her family and inspiring others in her community to pursue their dreams.

Your gift to our year-end campaign “Rewriting Possible” not only turns the water back on for families but also helps fierce, resilient women like Maria continue breaking barriers, transforming their communities, and building a lasting legacy.

Join us in this extraordinary journey. When you invest in a woman mechanic, you invest in hope, dignity, and a world where clean water and opportunity flow together. Give today and help us make the impossible possible by reaching our year-end goal of $300,000. With your help, possible is happening.
