Today we are officially back at it with all we have and I'm asking you to give whatever you are able, now, to this important work.
Before COVID, we were running at full speed to ensure families and villages have access to clean water in the conflict-affected countries of South Sudan and DRC.
Then there was COVID and its terrible impact on lives and economies. It felt like the whole world stopped. Even in countries where every day is a desperate grasp for food and water, shelter in place became normal. COVID's ugly tentacles have spared no one. Not one life, one heart, one pocketbook, here in South Sudan or in DRC.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has seen more deaths from war than any other country since WWII. The instability of war brought increased deaths from typhoid, malaria, and measles along with Ebola. The average expenditure in DRC for healthcare is $19 per person. In the US, it’s $10,000. Then came COVID!
Some diseases are hard to control but not the ones that come from dirty water. Together we have funded more than 50 rain catchment systems in the area called Kibumba. Now instead of drinking “disease” from filthy holes in the ground, community members share water as they filter it through their Sawyer filters. These are real before and after stories.
While COVID has become “normal” worldwide, so too must our collective pursuit of basic water for all. We all need the hopeful before and after stories. From dirty water, disease, and despair before, to after, where hope and opportunity reign.
I do hope you will join us and give to our Before & After Campaign. Over the next six weeks, we are seeking to raise $30,000. Please give generously, and use your social profile and connections to spread the word. Let's remind ourselves of the good we can accomplish together no matter what difficulties are thrown at us!
Join me by giving now!
