Who knew an angel would have ten children?
As if from nowhere, Beatrice showed up with her rain catchment building manual, ready to get to work. Now she and her team have completed more than 70 tanks!
Raising ten children ages 2 to 24 in Kibumba, is no easy task. The lack of water and the years of rebel movement would take a toll on anyone. And yet Beatrice's smile and joy could light up a thousand mornings.
In her own words, "I am proud to be part of the project that brings life to my family members and my people in Kibumba. The lack of water in our area has created many challenges. There are many diseases in our region due to the lack of water; many children, especially girls, cannot go to school. They had to go many kilometers to look for water, whether to Goma town or Rwanda. Rape is common when looking for water in Virunga National Park; poverty is everywhere because of the time wasted going for water. Now, all the challenges/problems enumerated above are slowly getting resolved."
"From the salary I received, we have already paid the plot where my husband and I could construct a house. We have three cows. We can pay school fees for our children in primary, secondary schools and those at university. We can feed our family members without any struggle."
Her husband, Celestin, knows firsthand how Beatrice's work has changed their lives. “Because of my hero, Beatrice, I say My God! When I see her bringing a salary for our household's development. I praise God for having given me such a wife.”Yes, we are a water organization. However, our local work is transformative at a much deeper level. The opportunity to feed, clothe, and educate your family is something we all want, and it is happening in Kibumba, DRC.
